Handgelaat (Pty) Ltd ("Handgelaat", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website, why we collect it, and your rights regarding that information, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What information we collect

Depending on how you use our website, we may collect: your name, contact details, delivery address, billing address, order history, and the content of any messages you send us (for example, personalisation instructions or customer service queries). If you make a purchase, payment details are collected and processed directly by Shopify and its payment partners - we do not see or store your full card details ourselves.

Why we collect it

  • Order processing - to take, confirm, prepare and fulfil your order.
  • Payment processing - handled securely by Shopify and its payment providers so we can accept and verify payment.
  • Delivery - we share your delivery details with the courier company handling your parcel, only as needed to get it to you.
  • Customer service - to respond to your questions, requests, or issues with an order.
  • Security and fraud prevention - to help keep our store and your information safe.
  • Marketing - only where you've given us your consent, for example to send updates about new products or promotions.

Shopify, payment providers and couriers

Our website is built and hosted on Shopify, which provides the checkout, payment processing and underlying store infrastructure. Shopify and its payment partners process your order and payment information on our behalf, under their own security and privacy standards. We work with South African courier providers to deliver your order, and share only the delivery information necessary for them to do so.

Cookies and website technology

Our website uses cookies to run properly, remember your cart, and (only with your permission) understand how the site is used. For full details on the categories of cookies we use and how to manage your preferences, please see our Cookie Policy. We do not currently use third-party advertising trackers such as Meta Pixel or Google Ads tracking on this website; if this changes in future, we will update this policy and our cookie consent options accordingly.

Marketing consent

We will only send you marketing emails, SMS or newsletters if you've actively opted in to receive them. We do not automatically sign you up to marketing just because you've made a purchase. You can withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing message, or by emailing heidi@handgelaat.co.za.

How long we keep your information

We keep your personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, including to meet our legal, accounting and tax obligations.

Under POPIA, you have the right to: request access to the personal information we hold about you; request that we correct inaccurate information; request that we delete your information, subject to our legal obligations; and object to certain processing of your information, including for direct marketing. We rely on Shopify's secure infrastructure and take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, but no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Hierdie Privaatheidsbeleid verduidelik watter persoonlike inligting ons insamel wanneer jy ons webwerf gebruik, hoekom ons dit insamel, en jou regte rakende daardie inligting, in lyn met Suid-Afrika se Wet op die Beskerming van Persoonlike Inligting (POPIA).

Watter inligting ons insamel

Afhangend van hoe jy ons webwerf gebruik, kan ons die volgende insamel: jou naam, kontakbesonderhede, afleweringsadres, rekeningadres, bestellingsgeskiedenis, en die inhoud van enige boodskappe wat jy aan ons stuur (byvoorbeeld personaliseringsinstruksies of kliëntediensnavrae). Indien jy 'n aankoop doen, word betaalbesonderhede direk deur Shopify en sy betaalvennote ingesamel en verwerk - ons sien of stoor nie self jou volledige kaartbesonderhede nie.

Hoekom ons dit insamel

  • Bestellingsverwerking - om jou bestelling te neem, bevestig, voor te berei en uit te voer.
  • Betalingsverwerking - veilig hanteer deur Shopify en sy betaalverskaffers sodat ons betaling kan aanvaar en verifieer.
  • Aflewering - ons deel jou afleweringsbesonderhede met die koeriermaatskappy wat jou pakkie hanteer, slegs soos nodig om dit by jou te kry.
  • Kliëntediens - om op jou vrae, versoeke of probleme met 'n bestelling te reageer.
  • Sekuriteit en bedrogvoorkoming - om ons winkel en jou inligting veilig te hou.
  • Bemarking - slegs waar jy vir ons toestemming gegee het, byvoorbeeld om opdaterings oor nuwe produkte of promosies te stuur.

Shopify, betaalverskaffers en koeriers

Ons webwerf is op Shopify gebou en word daar gehuisves, wat die betaalpunt, betalingsverwerking en onderliggende winkelinfrastruktuur verskaf. Shopify en sy betaalvennote verwerk jou bestelling- en betalingsinligting namens ons, onder hul eie sekuriteits- en privaatheidstandaarde. Ons werk met Suid-Afrikaanse koerierverskaffers om jou bestelling af te lewer, en deel slegs die afleweringsinligting wat vir hulle nodig is om dit te doen.

Koekies en webwerftegnologie

Ons webwerf gebruik koekies om behoorlik te werk, jou mandjie te onthou, en (slegs met jou toestemming) te verstaan hoe die werf gebruik word. Vir volledige besonderhede oor die kategorieë koekies wat ons gebruik en hoe om jou voorkeure te bestuur, sien asseblief ons Koekiebeleid. Ons gebruik tans nie derdeparty-advertensiespoorders soos Meta Pixel of Google Ads-opsporing op hierdie webwerf nie; indien dit in die toekoms verander, sal ons hierdie beleid en ons koekietoestemmingsopsies dienooreenkomstig opdateer.

Bemarkingstoestemming

Ons stuur slegs bemarkings-e-posse, SMS'e of nuusbriewe indien jy aktief ingeteken het om dit te ontvang. Ons teken jou nie outomaties vir bemarking in bloot omdat jy 'n aankoop gedoen het nie. Jy kan jou toestemming enige tyd terugtrek deur die uitteken-skakel in enige bemarkingsboodskap te gebruik, of deur 'n e-pos aan heidi@handgelaat.co.za te stuur.

Hoe lank ons jou inligting hou

Ons hou jou persoonlike inligting so lank as wat redelikerwys nodig is om die doeleindes wat in hierdie beleid beskryf word te vervul, insluitend om aan ons regs-, rekeningkundige en belastingverpligtinge te voldoen.

Deel van jou inligting

Ons deel jou persoonlike inligting slegs met derde partye waar dit nodig is om ons dienste aan jou te lewer - byvoorbeeld Shopify, betaalverskaffers en koeriermaatskappye - of waar dit deur die wet vereis word. Ons verkoop nooit jou persoonlike inligting nie.

Jou regte

Ingevolge POPIA het jy die reg om: toegang te versoek tot die persoonlike inligting wat ons oor jou hou; te versoek dat ons onakkurate inligting regstel; te versoek dat ons jou inligting uitvee, onderhewig aan ons regsverpligtinge; en beswaar te maak teen sekere verwerking van jou inligting, insluitend vir direkte bemarking. Sekuriteit

Ons steun op Shopify se veilige infrastruktuur en neem redelike stappe om jou persoonlike inligting te beskerm, maar geen metode van oordrag oor die internet is 100% veilig nie.

Ons kan hierdie Privaatheidsbeleid van tyd tot tyd opdateer. Enige veranderinge sal op hierdie bladsy geplaas word.
